St. Louis – A natural gas leak in downtown St. Louis forced the brief, precautionary evacuation of thousands of people from various buildings Monday morning.
Workers were cleared for roughly 90 minutes from the Federal Reserve building, the downtown YMCA, the U.S. Post Office and other buildings.
St. Louis Fire Department Captain Derrick Phillips says crews doing excavation work on a street accidently broke a large underground gas main.
There was no explosion or injuries.
