Plane from St. Louis Lands Safely After Smoke Seen

By AP/KWMU

Indianapolis, In. – A plane flying from St. Louis to Newark, NJ had to land in Indianapolis Sunday night after smoke was seen in the cockpit and cabin.

The plane landed safely, and the fewer than 50 passengers on board were taken to the terminal and book on other fights.

An airport spokesman says there's no evidence of flames or fire, noting it may have been an electrical short circuit that caused the smoke.

The regional jet is operated by Chautauqua Airlines and flies for American Airlines.
