St. Louis – Missouri Democrats are starting a major voter registration drive Saturday.
It's part of a national effort by the liberal group America Votes. Organizers hope to register a quarter million new voters across the country.
Group spokeswoman Sara Howard says about 100 people will canvass several neighborhoods in St. Louis Saturday afternoon.
"What we're trying to do is to talk to people who have been very often unrepresented in the political process, so places where there isn't as much voter participation as their should be," Howard said.
Former Lieutenant Governor Harriet Woods and former U.S. Senator Jean Carnahan will headline the drive's kickoff rally Saturday morning.
