East St. Louis, Ill. – A pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 12th, and a trial is set for July 20th for St. Louis Blues forward Mike Danton.

Danton pleaded not guilty Tuesday to federal charges that he conspired to hire a hit man to kill an acquaintance.

Danton will remain jailed until at least Friday, when a detention hearing is scheduled.

Danton's mother, aunt and brother were at the hearing. So were two teammates, Scott Mellanby and Doug Weight.

Danton was arrested in California on April 16th, a day after the Blues' season ended with a loss to the San Jose Sharks in the NHL playoffs.

His alleged accomplice, 19-year-old Katie Wolfmeyer of Florissant, pleaded not guilty last week. Her trial is scheduled to begin July 13th.
