Judge Says Convicted Murderer Can Go Free Until New Trial

By AP/KWMU

Belleville, Ill. – A judge in Belleville on Thursday said a convicted murderer can be released while he waits for a new trail. Gregory Bowman just has to come up with bail money.

He's spent the last 26 years in prison for killing two women. But the Post-Dispatch found five years ago that Bowman had been tricked into confessing by a jailhouse snitch. A judge three years ago ordered a new trial.

Bowman must live with his father and make a nightly 8:30 p.m. curfew if he is released.
