MO House Approves Motorcycle Helmet Repeal

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri House Monday voted to make motorcycle helmets optional for people 21 and older. Similar efforts have failed in the past.

Supporters say helmet laws have outlived their life and that helmets are a matter of personal freedom.

Another vote is needed in the House to send it to the Senate.

Opponents claim the result would be more serious injuries, with the state often paying the medical bills.
