Rolla, Mo. – Fifteen horses that are said to be emaciated and starving are on their way to a medical treatment facility near Union, Missouri.
The Humane Society and the Phelps County Sheriff's Department removed the horses Monday from a property near Rolla in central Missouri.
Seven other horses were found dead at the site.
The Humane Society says the owner does not live on the property and it appears the animals were left alone through the winter.
There is no word yet on whether charges will be filed.
