St. Louis – Three corrections officers at the St. Louis City workhouse have been indicted.
Federal prosecutors said Friday the men attempted to sell crack cocaine to inmates at the jail.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tom Albus said Sheldon Dorsey and Anthony Griffin face two felony counts apiece of attempting to distribute a controlled substance.
"The matter was investigated by the narcotics division of the City of St. Louis Police Department and the folks at the St. Louis city Department of Public Safety," Albus said. "They deserve whatever credit is owed at this early stage in the proceedings for bringing these folks to the attention of my office."
A third man, Vernard Thomas, has also been charged. The men will be arraigned next week.
