St. Louis, MO – About 400 workers at two downtown hotels have unionized.
They work at the Renaissance Grand and Renaissance Suite hotels and will now be part of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union (Local 74).
"This is a good place to work," said Kenny Mollison, in a statement. Mollison works at Renaissance Suites. "But there are certain things that only a union contract can provide, like job security and a voice at work. This has nothing to do with Marriott or the Union; this has to do with how we value ourselves as employees."
That union says 72% of the workers voted to join the union. Marriott operates both hotels.
