St. Louis – An Illinois woman gave birth to six babies Friday in a suburban St. Louis hospital.
Officials at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur say they believe the children are the first sextuplets ever born in Missouri.
The three boys and three girls are all in critical condition, because they were born premature.
Their weights varied from one pound-13 ounces to two pounds-15 ounces.
Parents Ron and Tina Otten live in Granite City, Illinois. The hospital says Tina Otten had been hospitalized since February 13th.
The Ottens have two other children, a four-year-old named Hannah and two-year-old named Abigail.
