St. Louis, MO – St. Louis school board members are continuing their search for a permanent superintendent.
The board held a private meeting Wednesday with Rudy Crew, the former head of the New York city public schools. Crew is currently a consultant to the private company currently running the district.
The meeting at a St. Louis County office complex yielded few details, but district spokesman Glynn Young says Crew has not been offered the job.
"Discussions are continuing, and they'll continue for another probably two or three weeks or so before we can really answer that question definitively," Young said.
Young says Crew is the only candidate actively under consideration. The interim management team's contract with the district expires in three months.
For his part, Crew declined to speculate on the outcome of the search:
"We're going to continue our discussions and I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks we'll have some more opportunities to talk."
