Missouri Women's Advocates Discuss Political Agenda

By Matt Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis – Missouri women's advocates say the state's public policy is headed in the wrong direction.

The Alliance for the Status of Missouri Women is meeting in five cities around the state Saturday (3/27).

They're talking about issues like political participation, earnings and abortion rights.

Kerri McBee is with the Alliance.

"It's not just about women's health," McBee said. "It's not just about women earning money. It's not just about women getting a good education. All of those things affect each other. And therefore, because women are the cornerstone of their families, if they're not healthy, if they're not educated, if they're not making enough money to support their family, everybody is affected by that.

Missouri First Lady Laurie Hauser Holden will address the meetings by videoconference.

The St. Louis gathering starts at 8:30 Saturday morning at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
