St. Louis – Fifty-one Americans from every state and the District of Columbia will leave from St. Louis tonight on a bus tour to showcase the impact of job loss on the economy.
The tour of eight states and 18 cities is meant to bring together real people to tell their stories of job loss in America.
The tour is co-sponsored by the AFL-CIO and Working America, a national organization for working people. Karen Nussbaum is the director.
"This is about people who are losing their jobs, who are struggling to keep their families together and we are holding our politicians accountable, darn right we are," Nussbaum said. "That's our right and that's our responsibility and we're going to do it."
Republican National Committee spokesman David James says the AFL-CIO is engaging in political stunts and says their candidate John Kerry would raise taxes resulting in more unemployed Americans.
