Blagojevich Will Propose Budget, Part Two Today

Springfield, Ill. – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich will send the second part of his proposed budget to lawmakers today (Tuesday).

He'll outlay his plan for what buildings and roads the state should build or repair as part of his capital budget.

In it are plans for school construction money for a few Metro-East districts.

If lawmakers approve the money, the East St. Louis School District would get $29 million; Bethalto schools would get $4.3 million; the Silvis School District would get $11.9 million; and the Central School District in O'Fallon would get $415,622.

On Monday, the governor toured the state, outlaying his plan to should spend $2.2 billion dollars on school construction over the next four years, despite the slow economy.

Of the $2.2 billion, $550 million would be spent in the fiscal year that starts July First.

Other
