St. Louis – Four members of the St. Louis School Board are being sued by residents who want the officials removed from office.
A group calling itself "The Community" has filed a petition in St. Louis Circuit Court seeking the ouster of board president Darnetta Clinkscale, and board members Vince Shoemel, Bob Archibald and Ron Jackson.
Chairman of the citizens group, George Cotton, says the four have violated the state's Sunshine Law, hired unqualified administrators, and are guilty of gross misconduct and conflicts of interest.
"We believe that all of our points are not only provable in court but we believe that the public will agree with us that it's in the best interest of this community to have this board removed if we're talking about moving forward and strengthening this school system," Cotton said.
Last week, another group of St. Louis residents filed a similar lawsuit against board member Rochell Moore.
