Slay Says Moore Needs Medical Help

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay says that school board member Rochelle Moore needs medical help.

Moore was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly dumping a pitcher of water on a school district administrator.

In 2002, she had accused the official of secretly drugging her. And last year, she placed a curse on the mayor.

Slay says it's an unfortunate situation.

"I don't think that she is by nature a violent person, although it's clear that because of these issues she has and the help that I think she's been lacking, she's been doing some things that have been making the news that I'd just rather not talk about because I really feel sorry for her," Slay said.

Slay says Moore's problems are taking the focus away from important issues that the school board needs to resolve.

Moore could not be reached for comment.

Slay was a guest Thursday on KWMU's St. Louis on the Air.
