Jefferson City, MO – A Missouri State Senator is working to change campaign disclosure laws.
Republican Dan Clemens says the law hasn't been updated in 27 years.
He wants to allow local candidates for offices like mayor, county council, or judge raise more money without reporting it to the state.
Currently candidates have to report donations when they reach $1,000.
Clemens wants that threshold to be $5,000.
He says it would reduce paperwork filed with the state's Ethics Commission
The $500 threshold for state lawmakers would not change.
