Jefferson City, MO – Missouri State Auditor Claire McCaskill says she's disappointed that some Catholic leaders want to shun politicians who support abortion rights.

The Democratic candidate for governor became a Catholic several years ago and supports abortion rights.

McCaskill says church hierarchy seems to be singling out Catholic politicians who disagree with the church on just one issue: Abortion.

St. Louis's new archbishop, Raymond Burke, ordered priests in his last diocese in Wisconsin to keep communion from Catholic politicians who support abortion rights. McCaskill is currently building a home in the St. Louis Archdiocese.

Last year the Vatican directed bishops to admonish Catholic politicians who publicly disagree with the church.
