Washington – Senator Kit Bond Wednesday explained why he opposes a highway bill amendment by fellow Missouri Republican Jim Talent.
Talent's measure would generate road-building money by selling bonds.
Bond is an author of the bill. And he says he doesn't want it to add to the deficit, as would happen with Talent's proposal.
The Bush administration has mentioned bonds as something thatcould trigger a veto.
