Jefferson City, MO – There's a legislative effort underway in Missouri to require everyone to show their face on their driver's license.
Under current law, members of certain religious groups that cover parts of the face are exempt.
Republican representative Larry Crawford of the Jefferson City area says his bill would not violate religious freedom rights.
"You have no right to drive a car," Crawford said. "You or I, anyone of us do, that's a privilege. And for that privilege, there's certain criteria you have to meet."
Crawford says that under his bill, members of religious groups could still opt out of having a picture on their license if they agree to have their whole face photographed for a digital database.
