St. Louis – A prosecutor says police never had a chance to read Thomas Erbland Jr. his rights before he blurted out that he killed his wife, radio personality Nan Wyatt.

The prosecutor is defending court admissibility of Erbland's repeated confessions.

The judge agreed, rejecting a defense attempt to exclude the statements from evidence in a trial.

A two-hour hearing Thursday in St. Louis illustrated how eager Erbland was to accept blame for the shooting of Wyatt, a KMOX morning show host, in their home on February 18th, 2003.

Erbland has pleaded innocent to a first-degree murder charge.

Because of pretrial publicity, jurors in Howell County will be brought to St. Louis County to judge the case.
