St. Louis – A St. Louis County selection committee has put off its decision on a new casino development for another month.
But the panel has narrowed the list of potential casino projects it is considering from three to two.
Committee chairman Denny Coleman said the proposal from Harrah's has been eliminated because it did not include plans for casinos in both the city and county.
"Given the Missouri Gaming Commission's stated priority that a casino development downtown is their first consideration, we felt that that was too big of a hurdle for them to overcome even with the otherwise strong position of the company," Coleman said.
The decision leaves Isle of Capri and Pinnacle Entertainment in the running for the area's next casino development.
The city's selection committee is expected to announcement its choice Thursday.
