St. Louis – Missouri Secretary of State Matt Blunt Wednesday launched his gubernatorial campaign.

At stops around the state, the Republican promised supporters smaller state government and a better economy.

In St. Louis, he said public education will be one of the main themes of his campaign.

"Should I be given the opportunity to lead this great state, I pledge today that we will never deliver less money to Missouri's classrooms than we did the year before," Blunt said. "I will never allow anyone in my administration to use Missouri schoolchildren as pawns in a political battle."

Blunt is 33 years old and served one term in the Missouri House before being elected Secretary of State. He is also a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves.
