Former Silex, Mo. Officials Face Criminal Charges

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – The former village chairman of Silex, Mo, in Lincoln County will be in court Tuesday to face charges of misappropriating public funds.

James Lenk is charged along with former police chief Steve Wilson and his wife, Sandra Wilson, who was city clerk.

The current police chief says money for village services never made it into the city's bank accounts. The state auditor's office says no cash was ever deposited during the three's time in office.

The state Attorney General's office is prosecuting the matter because the Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney has a conflict of interest.

Lenk and the Wilsons have been released from jail on bond. The Wilsons are scheduled to appear in court February fifth.
