Jefferson City, MO – A group of farmers, government officials, and university professors wants Missouri lawmakers to pass tax breaks to farmers who take environmentally friendly steps to dispose of poultry waste.
Lawmakers formed the committee two years ago to study ways to keep the poultry industry profitable while lessening its environmentally harmful byproducts.
The report will be released today (Tuesday); it also asks for tax subsidies to lower researchers' costs of finding new ways to dispose of the waste.
