St. Louis – The U.S. Navy has released details of its new $9.6 billion contract with Boeing.
The company's St. Louis-based Integrated Defense Systems will supply 210 additional F/A-18 Super Hornet jet fighters and will design and develop the EA-18G airborne electronic attack aircraft.
The Navy will buy 42 aircraft in each year from 2005 to 2009. The deal gives the Navy the flexibility to increase the number of aircraft on order by as many as six per year.
The company's shares surged 53 cents to close at 42 dollars on the New York Stock Exchange Monday, hitting a 52-week high.
