St. Louis, Mo. – The St. Louis public school board on Monday appointed a committee to seek input from citizens in its search for a new superintendent.
St. Louis Board of Education vice president Ron Jackson will be chairman of the committee. Board members Amy Hilgemann, Rochell Moore and Vince Schoemehl will also serve on the committee.
The committee will seek a replacement for interim superintendent William Roberti, the managing partner of the New York turnaround firm brought in to bring the district out of debt.
The firm's contract runs out at the end of June.
Roberti and the board have drawn criticism for ignoring complaints from residents. The board has said it is working to close a $90 million deficit.
The search committee will organize focus groups and solicit community input to find a new superintendent by next spring.
