Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorneys who won the case against Missouri's new concealed guns law ask the state Supreme Court to hear an appeal by the law's supporters no sooner than February ninth.
The plaintiffs' lawyers said today they expect up to seven points to be raised -- many by themselves -- so they need time to
prepare.
Attorney General Jay Nixon suggests the Supreme Court hear the case on the third of next month.
The concealed guns law was enacted in September when lawmakers over-rode Governor Holden's veto.
It was scheduled to take effect last month. But a judge in St. Louis issued a preliminary injunction, and later made it permanent.
The plaintiffs say the law violates part of the state constitution dating to 1875.
The high court will announce its decision on the appeal date later.
