St. Louis, MO – St. Louis mayor Francis Slay says the Missouri Gaming Commission is receptive to the idea of St. Louis city and county working together to bring a new casinos to the region and find a company to take over the President Casino downtown.
This summer, the city and county each issued separate requests for proposals to prospective gaming companies. Now, the two entities say they'll consider the creation of companion casinos. Slay says that would maximize the benefits of gaming for the entire region:
"We're always competing on all kinds of different levels, and I thought this would be a good way to really continue our efforts to build trust and a relationship between St. Louis city and St. Louis County," said Slay.
If the commission issues the license, the city and county may develop a revenue sharing agreement. Gaming companies now have until November 14 to submit proposals.
