Washington, DC – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich will be in Washington Wednesday; he plans to lobby for legislation that would allow state and local governments to import prescription drugs from Canada.
He wants to reverse the federal government's prohibition on drug imports; state officials are currently studying whether letting state employees buy imported drugs would save money.
Because of government price controls and a favorable exchange rate, brand-name drugs in Canada often cost much less than they do in the United States.
