St. Louis, MO – A St. Charles County woman with 49 cats gets five years of probation. Mary Mahne pleaded guilty to endangering her two grandchildren after authorities found her home soiled with animal feces and urine.
She agreed to allow state officials to visit the home and is allowed to own only one pet, a dog she has had since it was a puppy.
Officials said they found 49 cats, three dogs and two ferrets running freely in the house. Mahne's daughter, Patricia Mitchell, pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this month and also was sentenced to five years probation.
