St. Louis, Mo. – Legal experts for the city of St. Louis say they'll look into Missouri's new concealed weapons law to see if the city can take it to court.
Friday the St. Louis Board of Aldermen passed a resolution condemning the Missouri Senate's override of Governor Bob Holden's veto of the measure.
The resolution directs city counselor Patricia Hageman to study the law. Hageman says its not unusual for the city to challenge state legislation from time to time.
"It may be a little more unusual for us to proactively challenge it in terms of filing some type of declaratory judgment action to try to get it declared illegal but in response to the resolution, we'll be more than happy to look into it," Hageman said.
The Board of Aldermen is also considering a bill prohibiting persons to carry concealed weapons into St. Louis city-owned buildings.
The ban could become law by November.
