St. Louis, Mo. – Supporters of Medicaid reform say the program needs to encourage more at-home treatment of the disabled.
Advocates in the group Paraquad rallied in St. Louis today in support of a Medicaid reform measure in Washington.
Paraquad's Kirsten Dunham says Medicaid currently encourages people to nursing homes and institutions that are more costly and this change would keep more people in the community.
"Communities benefit because they have additional members in their community who are able to contribute and volunteer and work and be a part of community life," Dunham said.
Past attempts to pass the measure have failed. Today's rally was staged to mirror a similar rally held on Capitol Hill.
