St. Louis, MO – The Cardinals plan to break ground on a new stadium next month, with an open date still set for April, 2006.
Team owners say they're putting together the final parts of a private financing package; private money will pay the bulk of the more than $400 million project.
Once the private financing is secured, actual construction will begin to keep the project on schedule.
Owners concede that the later the money comes together, the more expensive the project could get.
Team officials say they want to have the money in the bank before announcing which investors are financing the project.
