Wrongly Convicted, Newly Freed Man Wins Back Auto Job

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, Mo. – A man newly freed after serving 17 years
behind bars for rapes he did NOT commit takes a big step in trying to get things back to the way they used to be.

Lonnie Erby won back his autoworker job.

This afternoon, Erby is to report to work in the paint shop at a minivan-making Daimler Chrysler plant in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton.

The move comes three weeks to the day since a St. Louis judge threw out his 115-year sentence on 1986 rape convictions and
ordered him immediately released because DNA tests cleared him.

Daimler Chrysler spokesman Dan Bodene says "we're happy to have him back in the Chrysler family."
