St. Louis, MO – A support group for victims of sexual abuse by clergy is calling on a St. Louis circuit judge to issue the maximum sentence against convicted child molester James Beine.
Beine will be sentenced on Monday. David Clohessy, director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, says a long sentence against Beine will keep children safe:
Some have described him as being the Fr. John Geoghan of Missouri, because we know he has abused dozens and dozens and dozens of kids," Clohessy said.
"And we simply want to make sure that he does not get out on parole, he does not get out of jail where he will once again hurt innocent youngsters.
Beine was previously sentenced to nearly five years in prison and fined $10,000 for possessing child pornography.
