St. Louis – With Labor Day around the corner, Missouri Governor Bob Holden showed his support for union members Thursday in St. Louis.
Governor Holden said Bush Administration economic policies have been bad for workers, and promised to support labor rights when the Missouri legislative session starts in January.
The Democrat said the Republican-controlled House and Senate have backed legislation that hurts working families.
"They keep talking about working to create a pro-business climate in Missouri," Holden said. "Whenever they say those words, you better get ready to fight."
Holden said many of Missouri's top corporations do not pay income tax. He also encouraged St. Louis workers who are trying to unionize several local businesses.
