St. Louis, MO – St. Louis-based companies Monsanto and Solutia will pay more than $700 million to settle a lawsuit in Alabama over PCB's.

The companies, along with Pharmacia, were named in the suit over the making of PCB's at a factory in Anniston, Alabama years ago.

The suit says the companies' actions made local residents sick, but there are no findings of wrongdoing under the settlement.

The case would have gone to trial in October.
