Affton, MO – A Missouri state representative from Jefferson County has died. Ray Adams, of Arnold, was 62. The Air Force veteran learned he had lung cancer last year, shortly after winning his first election to the statehouse.
The Democrat died Tuesday at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. Adams was born in Belleville, Ill., and graduated in 1959 from Mehlville High School in suburban St. Louis. He worked for 34 years at Union Electric.
Arnold Mayor Mark Powell says Adams was highly aware of local happenings and took those concerns to Jefferson City. He is survived by his parents, Elwood and Mildred; his wife, Terry; a brother, five children and 11 grandchildren.
