Jefferson City, MO – About 16,000 Missourians are eligible to share in the state's $13 million portion of a national settlement with a home mortgage company.
Attorney General Jay Nixon says people who obtained home mortgage loans directly from Household or Beneficial Finance from
January 1999 to last September will be able to claim settlement payments beginning this week.
Nixon said those eligible to share in the settlement will get notices in the mail in the next week, and eligible consumers are
expected to have their checks by the end of the year.
The size of a person's share will depend on several loan factors and the amount of the loan.
The money is part of a $484 million national settlement last December between state attorneys general with Household International.
