Jefferson City, MO – A coalition of 80 community groups is calling on Missouri Governor Bob Holden to veto the Budget. They say the appropriations bills passed by the Missouri General Assembly cut education, health care, poverty and mental health programs too deeply.
Amy Blouin with the Missouri Coalition for Budget and Policy Priorities says the legislature should create a revenue package and put it to a vote of the people.
We already cut 30,000 people from Medicaid last year and we're looking at cutting an additional 13,000," Blouin said. "There are probably 60,000 women in the state who will lose access to women's health care services.
Missouri has cut more than $1.5 billion from the budget over the last three years. The legislature has proposed cutting an additional $600 million.
