University City, Mo. – Five stars were added to the St. Louis Walk of Fame Sunday in University City. The walk along the Loop on Delmar now honors 105 native or adopted St. Louisans, including Cardinals' Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, who was recognized Sunday.
"It's very encompassing because there's many different elements to this Walk of Fame," the Gold Glove shortstop said.
"It's literature, it's sports, it's music, it's everybody. It encompasses the entire community, so to become part of that is one thing that makes a person feel complete."
This was the 15th year for Walk of Fame additions. Also inducted Sunday were Grammy winner Michael McDonald, who sang for the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan before starting his own solo career. He was on tour in London; his sister accepted the award for him.
Basketball Hall of Famer Ed "Easy Ed" Macauley also got a star, as did writer and actress Kay Thompson, and William Greenleaf Eliot, the man who founded Washington University. Mail this article to a friend.
