St. Louis, Mo. – The head of a group that is trying to keep Ford from leaving St. Louis says prospects for a new factory in Georgia are a hopeful sign.
Patrick McKeehan heads the Ford Hazelwood Task Force. He says reported plans for an assembly plant near Atlanta indicates the company's financial outlook is improving.
"If this is true, to me it's a signal that Ford can and is capable of making this kind of investment, and potentially we may have the opportunity to convince Ford to make that kind of investment in Hazelwood," he said.
Ford officials are not discussing the plans. McKeehan says the Missouri Legislature is close to passing an economic incentive package aimed at keeping Ford in Hazelwood.
