Jefferson City, Mo. – A state senator's car, bearing distinctive Missouri license plates, was stolen from her St. Louis home over the weekend. Police say it also was used in a
robbery.
Senator Maida Coleman says her children noticed that the 2002 Chrysler Sebring was missing Saturday afternoon while she was out of town.
Police say the car was used in a robbery in St. Louis later that day. The vehicle has since been recovered, but no arrests have been made.
Coleman is a Democrat. She discussed the theft briefly Monday during Senate debate on a car rental bill.
Most senators have gold license plates that contain an "S" for their office and the number of the district they represent. In Coleman's case, her gold plate reads: "S-5."
