Arts Advocates Fear Massive Budget Cuts

St. Louis, Mo. –

The current fiscal crisis facing state governments across the nation means budgets for services like Medicaid, welfare, and even education are getting cut.

But the crisis also means less money for other areas, including the arts.

Governor Bob Holden has proposed one of the more drastic cuts of any state. His budget has no money in it for the state's Arts Council. Arts groups say the reduction would be devastating.

But as KWMU's Tom Weber reports, their fight to keep funding alive is difficult.
