St. Louis, Mo. – A group of architects is heading an effort to raise $2 million. That's how much they say it would cost to clean and renovate the outside walls of St. Louis City Hall.
The building hasn't had a good bath in decades, and city leaders say private financing is the only way the project will happen. That's because the sagging economy leaves little, if any, money in city budgets that are already being cut.
The renovation would include repairs to the roof, guttering, flashing and parapet.
The fund-raising group is a foundation of the American Institute of Architects, which would act as the stewards for money raised for the City Hall restoration.
