Jefferson City, MO – Less than one year after updating
Missouri's election process, lawmakers are seeking more changes that could
bring in more than $70 million in federal money.
Lawmakers, along with Secretary of State Matt Blunt, outlined a bill today to help the state comply with federal election law.
To qualify for the money in federal grants over the next four years, Missouri must have a centralized voter registration
data-base, plus handicapped-accessible voting machines.
A bill with the changes and others is sponsored by state Senator Anita Yeckel of St. Louis and House member Bill Deeken of Jefferson City. Both are Republicans as is Blunt, who's considering a run for
governor next year.
