St. Louis – The husband of slain K-M-O-X radio personality Nan Wyatt says his wife's journal entries about their failing marriage prompted him to kill.
Post-Dispatch columnist Bill McClelland interviewed Thomas Erbland Jr. yesterday at the St. Louis County Jail.
McClelland quotes Erbland as saying he knew his marriage to Wyatt was crumbling, and that it was affirmed by Wyatt's recent journal entries.
Erbland is accused of first-degree murder in Wyatt's shooting death Tuesday night at their home in the St. Louis suburb of Twin Oaks.
At Erbland's arraignment yesterday, a judge advised him to get an attorney.
Erbland is under suicide watch, and says he had suicidal thoughts before the slaying but says he cowardly killed his wife instead of himself. He says he deserves the death penalty.
Wyatt's funeral will be held Saturday in St. Louis.
