Union Vote to be Tallied for Children's Hospital Nurses

By T. Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – It's been about three weeks since nurses at Children's Hospital in St. Louis voted on whether to unionize, but the results of that vote are still not known.

Thursday the National Labor Relations Board will count most, but not all of those ballots.

The board's Ralph Remain says this is not the normal procedure for union votes.

About 91 ballots are being challenged because there's disagreement over whether the union should include just those who work at Children's or also include nurses at the hospital's other offices across the city.

Thursday's count will be final only if the tally is 92 votes for or against a union.
