St. Louis, MO – About 40 high school students in St. Louis area and Jerusalem took part in a live videoconference Monday to discuss life in the US and Israel, terrorism and the threat of war.
Students in each country exchanged questions about their sense of freedom and security, and how those ideals apply in their daily lives. The videoconference was sponsored by the St. Louis chapter of the American Jewish Committee.
AJC St. Louis executive director Betsy Gallop Dennis says events like this give American students an understanding of how governments function in other nations.
While the discussion centered on a number of recent international topics, there was little discussion of the space shuttle Columbia tragedy, which killed six Americans and one Israeli citizen.
